Global shutter cameras usually connect over MIPI, which ties you to particular boards and drivers. Chinneo's OV9281 1MP USB global shutter camera module is a standard UVC device instead. It works without drivers and records MJPG video at up to 120FPS through a 120 degree lens.

What is in the box
- This listing is the 120 degree version with the terminal cable
- The Raspberry Pi 5 and Jetson Orin NX boards shown in the illustrations are not included
Why global shutter and high frame rate
A global shutter exposes every pixel at the same moment, so fast subjects keep their true shape. At 120FPS, quick movements are spread over more frames, which helps tracking, motion analysis and gesture capture. It is a monochrome sensor, so it does not record colour.
Connection
Connect it through the USB Type-C port, or through the 1.0mm 4-pin terminal cable to wire it inside equipment.
Questions to settle before you order
- The terminal cable's length and the connector at its far end.
- Whether a USB Type-C cable is included.
Figures we left out
The parameter table and drawing disagree on lens distortion and on resolution. This guide quotes only the output formats listed in the parameter table.
